Match: 14:30 Ajax – Heerenveen
Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals
Average odds: 1.51
Bookmaker: bwin
Result: 4:1 WIN!!!

It has been a terrible couple of weeks for Ajax. With just eight games remaining, it seems that they have kissed the title goodbye after dropping five points in their last two games and in the process allowing PSV to open the gap at the top to ten points.
Ajax’s confidence will be low after their last couple of games. Following their 3-2 away loss at Vitesse, Ajax have lost more games now (four) than they did in the entirety of last season with still eight games to go.
Heerenveen have slim hopes of European qualification if only they can string together some wins. They have only one back-to-back win since September, with both coming against bottom three sides – the ‘Super Frisians’ head into this fixture on the back of a win.
In terms of the head to head, these teams have played out 27 games with Ajax winning 15, Heerenveen winning six – along with six draws; the reverse fixture saw Ajax win 4-0 at the Abe Lenstra stadium.
Reza Ghoochannejhad has hit form since coming back from the winter break – the Iranian striker had a four-month goal drought between September and January. He has overcome personal issues to get back to form, saying “…I feel reborn”, since his return.
Players to watch: Hakim Ziyech (AJA) has seven ‘Man of the Match’ accolades – with six goals and nine assists for his side (Eredivisie).
Reza Ghoochannejhad has scored four of his six goals for the league campaign since returning from the winter break – he has not gone more than a game without scoring since his return!
Stat attack: Ajax are unbeaten in each of their last eight Eredivisie home games, whilst Heerenveen have failed to win their last six away games.
Heerenveen have not tasted victory at the Johan Cruyff Arena in over nine years (2008/’09), in eight visits since they have lost seven times. Six of those losses saw both teams scoring, and every loss saw over 2.5 goals in total.
