MATCH PREVIEW

Bordeaux host Dijon in a Saturday evening Ligue 1 (L1) encounter. Both teams are fighting in the middle of the Ligue 1 (L1) standings going into this round 35 encounter, and just a single point separates them.
After two straight wins against Lille at home (2-1) and away to Montpellier (3-1), Bordeaux bravely lost 1-0 at home to L1 champions PSG last Sunday. Because of this home loss, Gustavo Poyet’s men have slipped to 11th place – seven points adrift of a Europa League qualification spot.
Following a good draw away to Nantes two weeks days ago (1-1), Dijon were trounced 5-2 at home by high-flying Lyon last weekend. Currently stuck in 12th place ahead of this round, Olivier Dall’Oglio and his team have already secured their place in L1 for next season.
In three previous meetings at Stade Matmut-Atlantique in all competitions, Bordeaux have won two and the other one finished as a draw. Having never lost a single home game against Dijon, the ‘Girondins’ have a distinct psychological advantage.
Clashes between these two sides are usually high scoring affairs – three of the last four meetings in all competitions having produced more than 2.5 goals (total).
Players to watch: Bordeaux’s 21-year-old Guinean striker Francois Kamano has six goals and four assists in L1 – he has also scored three goals in his last three matches.
He will go head-to-head with Dijon’s Tunisian striker Naïm Sliti who has five goals and five assists so far this season – he has also scored his team’s last two goals.
Stat attack: Dijon have won only two of their last 25 away L1 games (W2, D9, L14).
With 66 goals conceded in 34 matches so far, Dijon also have the worst defence in the league.
